How To Make A Crystal Sin Cocktail

Congrats to Andre Guerra of Reform Social and Grill Bar who recently won the 1st round of the Babička Vodka Witches Brew Marylebone micro-geographic cocktail competition.

Andre now competes against some of Marylebone’s best bar tenders in October in the overall final, which will also be held at pan-Asian bar and restaurant, held at Cocochan.

As you can see from the video and images below, the event was a lot of fun.

To make Andre’s winning cocktail, the Crystal Sin, you need the following:
50ml vodka
25ml lemon juice
25ml sugar syrup
15ml Manzana Verde apple liqueur
2 dashes of lemon bitters, on the rocks, tall glass, with a float of Gran Marnier.

Soho’s New Pop-Up Botanical Garden

Tanqueray team up with Carom to create the Botanical Gin Garden, By Claire Williams.

Carom Indian restaurant in Soho has joined forces with gin aficionados Tanqueray to create a botanical garden in the heart of Soho. The pop up bar – housed in a conservatory-like glasshouse at the front of trendy bar and restaurant Carom – will be holding gin-themed interactive events throughout the summer months.

The Botanical Gin Garden launched last week with an evening of cocktails, canapés and a gin masterclass from the spokesperson of the Tanqueray gin brand, Calum Lawrie, who explained in detail the different botanicals and flavour profiles of the full Tanqueray gin range.

Attendees were invited to forage from the array of ingredients that decorated the garden, including pots of herbs that hung from the walls in terracotta pots and jam jars full of aromatic spices and wild flowers.

Visitors were encouraged to touch, taste and smell the different ingredients that will go into their cocktail.
The gin cocktails were created from the foraged ingredients by bartender Adam Spinks, who turned baskets full of lemongrass, chilies and rose petals into devastatingly delicious cocktails.

The Botanical Gin Garden will be holding a number of different events until October 2103, including an evening masterclass on the 6th June and the Ranjan Indian Supperclub, which will combine an Indian supper designed by Carom’s executive chef Vishnu Natarajan and dishes will be paired with the botanicals of Rangpur gin and a flavour history of India.

Book your place at the bar using this reservations calendar.
